West Ham have likely seen the last of one of the biggest disappointments in the Premier League this season.

Everyone knew that West Ham needed a big January transfer window. They whittled down their small squad even further, yet the only player they brought in was Kalvin Phillips.

Despite his lack of playtime, hopes were high that he’d be able to get back to his former self and kick start his career again. Disappointingly, the complete opposite happened and he is arguably in a worse place than he was as before the loan.

While he was given plenty of chances, he just did not look up to the standards required to play in the Premier League in any of his appearances – he has managed to commit more fouls than he has tackles won. The Hammers may very well be in a better position if he never featured altogether.

Thankfully, fans will seemingly not have to endure his frustrating mistakes anymore as a mysterious injury will likely see him sidelined until the end of the season and, according to Fabrizio Romano, “Kalvin Phillips will surely leave West Ham at the end of the season, plan already decided weeks ago.”

“Kalvin will be back to Manchester City with club open to solutions, including Leeds interest and more.”

Obviously, Kalvin has had an extremely difficult time since leaving Leeds. From Pep’s weight comments and his lack of playtime at City, to his incident where he swore at a fan, it is clear to see that he is struggling in more ways than one. Given what a nice man he usually is off the pitch, let’s hope he can get back in the right state of mind as well as back to performing at the incredibly high level he is capable of.
