Mohammed Kudus was delighted to be able to give West Ham fans “the best gift” of three points against Manchester United this Christmas.

No one had any doubts about the quality of Mohammed Kudus when he signed from Ajax this season, but West Ham fans have been left speechless by how good he really is.

The Hammers’ star-boy has already got twelve goal involvements this season, scoring in four of his last five games. He is a nightmare for defenders thanks to having the trifecta of pace, skill and strength which leaves them with little choice but to foul him most of the time. Even then, it feels like it is only a matter of time before his brilliance shines through and shine it did when he finished off a brilliant through ball from Lucas Paqueta.

Unsurprisingly, Kudus was over the moon that his side was able to kick-off West Ham fans’ Christmas celebrations early. “Manchester United are a very good team and everybody gave their best,” he conceded when speaking to the Official Site. “I’m very happy to help the team get the three points. It’s an amazing Christmas gift for the fans, and I hope they enjoyed it.”

As the season has gone on, we have seen a beautiful partnership form between Kudus, Paqueta and Bowen. The three attackers have been on fire and the Ghanaian could not help but praise himself, as well as his teammates for the sensational win.

“I’ve got the best seat in the stadium when I celebrate my goals too. Lucas gave me the ball on the edge of the box and the defender was coming on my left side, so I had no option but to go on my right. I believed in it, trusted my intuition and it was a good goal.”

“All credit to Jarrod. I’m not surprised he’s still scoring. He’s got the hunger and work-ethic, and his professionalism also. He’s setting the example for us and I’m a big fan of how he plays. We keep pushing each other and helping each other and I’m so happy he keeps scoring, and I know there’s even more to come from him.”

Despite the clean sheet, it was not exactly smooth sailing for the home side, especially in the first-half. However, the winger has put the win down to sticking to Moyes’ game plan and learning from the mistakes they made at Anfield.

“They are a very good side and we knew it,” he explained. “We had to be very disciplined defensively and then make use of the counter-attacks when we won the ball. We were able to do that and I’m very happy for it to work.”

“It was 100 per cent important we bounced back. We learn from the down times and then enjoy the ups. It was a bad game at Liverpool but it was good to get this win, especially in the last game before Christmas for the fans.”

Unfortunately, there will not be much of a break for our Irons over the festive period as they make the short trip to The Emirates on Thursday for their Premier League clash with Arsenal. For now though, fans can relish in the moment and Kudus is grateful to be able to give us fans such a special present this Christmas.

“The best gift I can give is my performance in a win today,” he concluded. “It was so important to win and I want to thank all the West Ham fans for their support. Credit to the fans, I’m glad we made them happy.”
