West Ham today take on Manchester United in a return to Premier League action, with the pressure on David Moyes.

Our Hammers this week surrendered a place in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, with a shameful display which saw Liverpool trounce Moyes’ side 5-1 at Anfield.

The Irons boss put out a significantly weakened side which has left a bad taste in the mouth of West Ham fans, especially the 6k who travelled up north on a cold Wednesday night.

Moyes has admitted that players were rested, however this has in turn ramped up the pressure today, with many expecting a much improved display and result against the Red Devils.

The West Ham Way Podcast hosts Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee agree that Moyes is under the spotlight today, with a high expectation that the team will deliver. If not then he could come under fire from the West Ham fans.

“We need a reaction to that horror show on Wednesday, we can’t let that embarrassment be for nothing?” said Walker.

“I’m expecting everyone to be all over this today, no excuses. It’s a great time to play them and I think they are there for the taking. Let’s get the job done.”

Ex concurred with Walker, admitting this is a crucial game for the manager after his decision this week.

“This is now a massive game for David Moyes due to the decision to rotate for the crucial game against Liverpool in the cup quarter finals,” stated Ex.

“If the players put out a good performance and get a result he can somewhat stand by his decision but a poor performance and the critics will gather momentum.

“I think this is a good time to play Manchester United and I hope we can get back to winning ways.”
