Hugo Ekitike could be the ideal striker for West Ham as PSG are happy to let him leave on loan, according to reports.
It is no secret that West Ham need a striker, it is a role that the club have struggled for years to properly fill. They’ve had players who have done a job there, but no one who is a long term solution to the issue
Fortunately, the board seem determined to put this right with a number of rumoured options that they want to explore in the January window. One such candidate is PSG’s Hugo Ekitike. The 21 year old played a pivotal role in Reims success last season and earned his big move to the French capital in the Summer. The Hammers were keen on signing him back then too, but he chose to stay in his home country.
However, this move has not worked how he would have hoped as he has barely featured for PSG at all. This should not really come as a surprise though, after all his competition for the No.9 role is Kylian Mbappe. It seems like Luis Enrique has seen enough of Etkitike as the French side are keen to get rid of him, and are open to letting him go out on loan, Le Parisien report.
Given the Irons current finances, a loan deal with an option to buy could be perfect for them. They get a top quality player now but do not have to pay anything until they are in a better position to do so.
Much to the dismay of West Ham, they won’t get a clear run at the youngster with Crystal Palace also extremely keen to secure his signature. Palace are extremely good at getting their business done efficiently so, if the Hammers do decide he is the forward they want to sign, they will have to act fast when the window opens.
We are just a matter of days away from the window opening and, despite the initially limited budget, it is set to be a dramatic one for our Irons. What we do know is that our top target is a striker and Ekitike certainly has the quality to compliment our excellent attacking players.
