Reports state that Jonathan Tah could be finally making his move to West Ham, but it would mean a centre-back has to depart in the coming weeks.

Following Everton’s ten-point deduction, the West Ham board have become increasingly aware of how close they are to breaking FFP. As our man in the know, ExWHUEmployee, revealed the large majority of funds for the January transfer window will have to be raised through player sales. So, the fact that the Hammers have been linked with so many centre-backs may suggest that someone is about to be on the way out.

As of late, there have been rumours that David Moyes is debating whether or not to make a move for long term target Jonathan Tah. The 27- year-old defender has been key to Bayer Leverkusen’s success so far this season, starting in most of their games as they sit unbeaten at the top of the Bundesliga and journalist Paul Brown believes that if West Ham are to sign any central defender, it would be the German.

“It’s interesting that they’d be going for a central defender,” brown began explaining to GIVEMESPORT, “because they seem quite well stocked there. That would suggest that somebody is leaving if they were to do a deal like that.”

“Tah is actually someone who’s been on their radar for two or three years. I know that Moyes personally is a big fan of that player. He’s been to watch him personally over the years. There was a time when West Ham potentially even did make a bid for Tah. For whatever reason the transfer didn’t come off. I think he’s remained on their radar since and it wouldn’t surprise me if they resurrect that one.”

“I think the squad has needs in other areas that are probably greater than centre-back. So it will be interesting to see which way they invest their money in January. I do think there’ll be signings coming in if they can make them,” he concluded.

Interestingly, Ex exclusively revealed today that Tim Steidten had travelled to Monaco to discuss a deal for Thilo Kehrer to join the French side. At first it may seem like this is who the club are aiming to replace, but the German has been used more as a right back. This raises the question of who could the club be selling to bring someone like Tah in.

Well, Nayef Aguerd is someone that was surprisingly linked with a move away from East London in the past few days and, if that is the case, the club would certainly need to sign a defender. Maybe they see the Leverkusen man as an upgrade on the Moroccan international.

Fortunately, the window opens in just a matter of hours so it won’t be long until we find out what exactly Moyes and his team have up their sleeves in terms of transfers.

Despite the limited budget, it looks like it could be another action packed window. Let’s just hope our Irons come out the other side even stronger than they currently are.
