Angelo Ogbonna has spoken of his pride for the achievements last year and that we can now look ahead to more success.

It was a 2023 to be remembered for all connected with the club, with West Ham lifting our first trophy in 43 years, when we won the Europa Conference League title in Prague.

The club kick off the new year in the top 6 of the Premier League, knowing a victory over Brighton tomorrow night would put the club in a seriously healthy position in our hunt for European football for the 4th consecutive season.

Ogbonna, who captained West Ham to a 2-0 win away to London rivals Arsenal 4 days ago, is understandably proud for what the club achieved in 2023.

“I can’t stop saying it. I think, for the Club, it’s just been fantastic,” the veteran told the clubs Official Website. “There have been changes and there’s been love and hate, but we’re a family and we’ve tried to carry on and to achieve what we can achieve.

“It’s not easy, of course, we’ve had some changes. But I think everyone has grown on this journey. Winning the trophy in Prague too was so beautiful. We need to be proud of this year.”

The Italian centre-back also wanted to look ahead, stating that it is again time for us to dream for what the future may hold as the club continues to build and challenge the top sides domestically and across Europe.

“We do things step by step,” added Ogbonna. “We try to fight for our place in the Premier League. We’ve been trying to find balance, because we’ve been in Europe too in the last few seasons, but we want to challenge in every competition we play and I think that is the most important thing.

“I know it’s hard, but that’s football. Football is about winning, about dreaming, and as a footballer I want to keep dreaming until the end.”
