Vladimir Coufal’s agent has revealed the defender’s outrage with the West Ham board amid ongoing contract negotiations.

When news broke about Vladimir Coufal being infuriated regarding his current contract, it seemed very out of character. For such a humble man, it is hard to imagine that he cares too much about money – surprisingly this is not the case.

Recently, the Hammers decided to activate a clause in the right-back’s contract which allowed them to extend his stay by one year. Coufal’s agent Karol Kisel told inFotbalu (via The Sun) that they both “expected a better offer.”

“Cuf certainly deserves a better salary from the club and a new, longer-term contract for his long-term performances in the West Ham jersey, in addition to the title in the Conference League,” Kisel stated.

“So far, even after negotiations, West Ham’s management sees it differently and has only exercised the option of a one-year extension. Cuf is not happy about it as we expected a better offer.”

In all honesty, it is hard to argue against this. While his rumoured wage of 35k a week is a ludicrous amount to the average person, it is much lower than many of his teammates.

Considering he starts almost every game, he certainly deserves to be on par with those who do the same – even most of the squad players are on more than him.

The Czech international is having an immense season and is absolutely pivotal to David Moyes. His hard work, fearlessness and determination to see his club succeed are all reasons that he is a fan favourite amongst the East London faithful and his performances warrant a much more lucrative deal than the one he is currently on.

Losing a player like Coufal would be a massive loss to our Irons. Unless they are willing to spend big money on a replacement, the board should be doing everything they can to give him exactly what he deserves.
