Former West Ham star Glen Johnson believes that Eddie Nketiah should sign for the Hammers in order to reach his potential.

West Ham seem set on ending their issues in finding a No.9 this January. Haller, Scamacca and Ings have all ultimately failed for the Hammars in recent years but their lack of a striker has been made even more apparent in recent weeks.

Unsurprisingly, they have been linked with a large number of forwards in the run up to the transfer window. Serhou Guirassy, Timo Werner, Hugo Ekitike and Eddie Nketiah are just some of the players that the East London outfit could look to sign this month.

However, Academy of Football graduate Glen Johnson believes that the latter of those options would be a perfect fit at West Ham.

When asked about what he thinks of his former side’s interest in Nketiah by ggrecon.com he had the following to say: “I think he’d be a good signing for West Ham and if the money’s right, then it could be a good deal for both parties.”

“Nketiah’s shown a lot of promise and potential, but he’s never been a regular starter for Arsenal,” he continued.

“For a striker to find their form, they need lots of gametime and if Eddie makes the move to West Ham, he’ll probably be playing every week and then he can show everybody what he’s really capable of. If West Ham can get him, then they should and if West Ham go for him, then he should go.”

The Englishman certainly has proven he can score goals in the Premier League, and has been extremely reliable when called upon. Unfortunately for him, he just does not suit the system that Mikel Arteta wants to play.

If West Ham can find the £40 million that the North London club are demanding, Nketiah could be the player to finally fill their long-lasting void they have had up front.
