West Ham could be handed a massive boost in their ongoing injury crisis as Mohammed Kudus may return much earlier than expected.
Even half way through the season, fans are still astonished at how West Ham managed to pull off the signing of Mohammed Kudus, especially for only £38 million. The 23 year old has taken the Premier League by storm, scoring 6 goals and assisting 1 in just 16 games.
Unfortunately for the Hammers, his sensational form had to be interrupted by AFCON. Due to the intense heat in Africa, the competition is held in the Winter months for player safety. It affects almost every team in the league but it stings more when your team loses their star player.
What makes it even worse is the fact Paqueta, Bowen and Antonio are all expected to be out injured for over a month. With this in mind, West Ham are keen to make some additions to the squad as soon as possible.
Luckily, they may not have to wait too long before their star boy is back in Claret and Blue as Chris Huggton’s Ghana are in terrible form ahead of the tournament. They’ve failed to score in 4 of their last 5 games and do not look set to win the tournament, despite having one of the strongest squads in the competition.
Selfishly, the Irons will be hoping the Black Stars get knocked out as soon as possible. If they fail to progress from their group then the last game they will feature in is on the 22nd of January, meaning Kudus would only miss one more Premier League game against Sheffield United and be back in time for Bournemouth on the 1st of February.
As a fan, part of you wants your player to experience every success they can, the other part is desperate to have them back playing for your club. Under normal circumstances, the East London faithful would be wishing Kudus nothing but the best but, given the limited options they have in attack right now, they will be praying Ghana get knocked out as soon as possible.
