West Ham have concerns surrounding Nayef Aguerd with the defender linked with a possible exit, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

Despite it being an overall positive season so far for our Hammers, with the club currently occupying 6th spot in the Premier League and into the last-16 of the Europa League, there were significant concerns over our defence – albeit earlier in the season.

This in turn has raised question marks over the long-term future of Aguerd, with the Moroccan international understood to have attracted attention from other clubs with West Ham possibly tempted to cash-in and bring in a replacement.

Speaking on The West Ham Way Podcast, our co-host and club insider Ex has reported that there are concerns within the club surrounding the player, although the club will not sell unless an offer comes in that meets the clubs expectations.

“There are concerns within the club surrounding Nayef Aguerd,” stated Ex. “Firstly there are the consistent errors, which have been a running theme for some time now.

“Also question marks are there in terms of his commitment, with the player making himself unavailable due to illness before he went away with Morocco for the AFCON. It appears there possibly may have been a lack of hunger to return to action for West Ham – although it could have been he really was too unwell to play.”

West Ham though won’t entertain any sale of the defender unless the right offer is made, which would need to see the club recoup the £30m that was outlaid for him in 2022.

Should the club decide to seek a replacement then it is understood that the home-grown quota is very much a key aspect of the decision making, with both Trevoh Chalobah and Max Kilman identified as the targets. Although Kilman is said to be the top choice at this stage.
