A deal for West Ham’s top striker target could be hijacked as some of Europe’s elite clubs prepare their bids.

As our own ExWHUEmployee has stated since October, West Ham are extremely interested in signing Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy. The Guinea international’s impressive goalscoring record has somewhat gone under the radar thanks to Harry Kane’s unbelievable start to life in Germany. Guirassy’s 17 goals this season have been pivotal in taking his side from a relegation playoff to 3rd in the Bundesliga.

Unfortunately for them, it seems like his time in Southern Germany could be coming to an end. Averaging over a goal per game was always going to attract plenty of interest, but having a release clause of just £15 million means that teams will be desperate to get their hands on the 27 year old.

It is this low price tag that makes him so appealing to West ham as they are on an extremely limited budget thanks to FFP regulations. If he was able to emulate his form in the Premier League then the Hammers would have finally found the end to their striker woes.

As mentioned though, it is not just David Moyes’ side that are interested in acquiring his signature, with some massive clubs said to be weighing up a move. Newcastle United, Manchester United and AC Milan could all trigger his release clause, according to Football Insider which could make it difficult to convince him to move to the London Stadium.

Luckily, not all hope is lost as there are some reasons to believe we can persuade the forward to join. Firstly, more than any of the other teams mentioned, we can offer him guaranteed minutes. At all the other clubs he could struggle getting in their starting XI and that is not something he will want when he is in the form of his life. Secondly, we have both European and Premier League football which are the two things every single player wants. Finally, we have all heard about Tim Steidten’s amazing ‘sales pitch’ which convinced the likes of Alvarez and Kudus in the Summer.

Our Irons face an uphill battle if we are to try and sign Serhou Guirassy but, if it happens, it will almost certainly be worth it – his stats speak for themself. As we have seen before though, not every striker is able to adapt to the Premier League and, more specifically, West Ham.
