West Ham have secured the future of a highly rated Academy player with a deal signed this week, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

The club have been working on player contracts for our rising Academy stars, and it felt that securing Ezra Mayers to a deal is a big coup for the club with many others across Europe keen on the defender.

Mayers, who was previously on a scholarship with West Ham, penned the contract on Monday when he turned 17 years of age, with the club said to have high hopes for the player.

The club describe Mayers as: ‘a left-sided defender who made his U18s debut as a schoolboy. Calm in possession, and with a good range of passing too, Mayers is often the player building the attack.’

Reporting exclusively on The West Ham Way Podcast, our club insider Ex has revealed the deal was being signed between both parties, with West Ham having to battle off much interest from elsewhere.

“I can reveal that Ezra Mayers has signed a new deal this Monday, on his 17th birthday,” stated Ex on the Podcast which is on Patreon.

“This is seen as a real big piece of business for the club and Academy, as Mayers is very highly rated – however hes flying under the radar which really suits him and the club.

“This doesn’t mean he hasn’t been noticed though, with Bayern Munich one of the clubs said to be very keen on the player. So West Ham have done well to get this over the line.”
