West Ham are getting closer to completing the loan signing of Kalvin Phillips, it’s been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

The Manchester City midfielder, who is highly admired by David Moyes, is understood to be keen on the move to east London, with the hope a deal will be concluded soon.

As was first reported by The West Ham Way on 11th January, West Ham have held a strong interest in the player, with a view of getting a deal done to bring him to the club during this transfer window.

Talks have progressed well as the club have stepped up efforts this week to get the move over the line, which would see the England international be available for selection for our next match against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Reporting on The West Ham Way Podcast on Monday, our co-host and club insider Ex has advised that our Hammers look to have beaten off competition for his signature.

“As we understand it, talks have progressed and the player is very keen to join West Ham,” stated Ex. “The club at this stage appear to have advanced ahead of both Newcastle and Barcelona, who both have financial restraints to fund the move.

“This has put West Ham firmly in the front running for the player, with the deal at this stage a loan until the end of the season. “We understand at this stage the deal is now close and could well be completed soon.”
