West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus was lost for words after Ghana got knocked out of AFCON in heartbreaking fashion.

In the 90th minute of Ghana’s clash with Mozambique, the Black Stars looked like they were on their way to the knockouts. Much to the dismay of the whole nation, they would concede two goals in stoppage time to crush their dreams of AFCON glory.

Ghana finished third in their group with only two points, despite having the highest rated player in the whole tournament: Mohammed Kudus. Their star boy was obviously devastated with being knocked out of the tournament, especially considering the downfall started when he got subbed off.

In an emotional interview, the winger physically could not find the words to sum up how he felt. He could only go as far as to thank the fans, “I’m out of words, I don’t know what to say, man,” Kudus told GTV Sports. “Thanks to the fans for their support, y’know? Yeah.”

From a West Ham point of view though, it is the best thing that could have happened. Their ongoing injury crisis has made it clear how important the 23 year old is, and they will be delighted to have him back.

Even so, you can not help but feel for Kudus, the emotional pain he is in is clear for all to see. Selfishly, it will be great to have him back for our Irons next game against Bournemouth but, at the same time, we want the very best for all of our players. Let’s just hope this does not knock his confidence too much as to affect his performances in claret and blue.
