West Ham are reportedly closing in on the signing of a highly rated winger following major issues with their top target.

Outside of the ‘big 6’ you would be hard pressed to find a better attack than that of West Ham United’s. Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta are all magnificent players in their own right, but their abilities compliment each other perfectly making the trio all the more deadly.

However, for much of the current campaign, Paqueta has been playing out of position. While he is doing an excellent job on the left wing, the Hammers are keen to bring in someone who can play in that position so the Brazilian can move back to a central role. Ibrahim Osman looked almost certain to be joining the East London side at one point, but talks have since broken down and it looks like other targets are being pursued.

At this point in time, it seems like Portuguese winger Jota is the most likely candidate and TuttoMercatoWeb reports [via Football Fancast] that a deal is close to being agreed. Since joining Al-Ittihad in the Summer, things have gone downhill for Jota. Due to how many big name players the Saudi Arabian side signed, he was never registered for the club which has resulted in both the player and club wanting him to depart, most likely on loan.

Unfortunately, a loan will not be simple to pull off due to tax issues but, if there is a solution to these, West Ham could have a brilliant player on their hands. Over 83 appearances for Celtic he had 54 goal involvements, given that he is just 24 years old you can only assume he is going to get better.

Obviously, there are concerns over him being able to take the leap up to the Premier League (especially after not playing in so long). While these are certainly things that will have to be considered, the fact that he would only be joining on loan minimises the risk.

If he can perform at the same level in England as he did in Scotland, then David Moyes may have the perfect player to complete his deadly attack.
