Liverpool are reportedly looking to bring in Tim Steidten as their new director of football.

Jurgen Klopp recently announced that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. The German manager has won everything he possibly could with the Reds and the news came as a massive shock to everyone. However, he is not the only departure they have this season with their recruitment chief Jorg Schmadtke leaving at the start of February.

In the wake of the news, Football Insider believe that Tim Steidten is the man they want to replace Schmadtke with. Since joining West Ham, Steidten has quickly revolutionised the way the club does its business. He, Moyes and the rest of the team have done a brilliant job in terms of recruitment.

Unfortunately, it is not just the prospect of working for Liverpool that may tempt him, it is also the prospect of working alongside his former colleague. Xabi Alonso is someone Steidten knows extremely well from his time at Bayer Leverkusen, and the Spaniard is tipped to become Liverpool’s next manager. If this is the case, it may be an opportunity that West Ham’s director of football jumps at.

Whether or not they actually do come in for him remains to be seen, but it is interesting this news has broken just after Steidten’s top target, Ibrahim Osman, has had a move to East London collapse. West Ham will be hoping to keep hold of the German for years to come, but it is no surprise that big teams are already wanting to acquire his services.
