Nottingham Forest could take Maxwel Cornet on loan before the end of the window, but it could cause massive issues for West Ham.

After the signing of Kalvin Phillips, almost every player West Ham have been linked with is a left winger. It is clearly the top priority in the final days of the January transfer window but there have been multiple complications in bringing one in.

Ibrahim Osman was revealed to be the Hammers top priority by our own ExWHUEmployee, but due to a mixture of agent issues and a high asking price talks seemed to have stalled. While Portuguese winger Jota’s tax issues seem to be preventing a move.

Unfortunately, the Irons have had problems signing anyone this month due to their limited budget. Being so close to breaking FFP means that players have to be sold in order for them to purchase anyone. Luckily both Fornals and Benrahma seem to be nearing an exit which will raise funds in order to sign a replacement.

Surprisingly though, the only out and out left winger at the club, Maxwel Cornet, looks like he could be departing this month too. The Daily Mail reports that Nottingham Forest are keen to sign the Ivorian on loan until the end of the season. Due to a mixture of injuries and a lack of opportunities, Cornet has failed to impress in East London, only just scoring his first goal for West Ham.

Given that no deals are even close to being complete, it would be extremely risky letting all three players go. They may all be fringe players who are no longer good enough for the level our Irons want to be at, keeping hold of at least one of them until a winger is signed would probably be a smart move.
