West Ham may make a last minute move for Wilfried Gnonto before the window shuts.

As usual, things are never straight forward at West Ham. Deals for their two top targets, Ibrahim Osman and Jota, collapsed due to extremely complicated reasons, and they seem to have no replacement lined up Pablo Fornals or Benrahma who could both be departing today. It is starting to look bleak for Hammers fans.

Fortunately, according to journalist Dean Jones, there is still some hope that they sign a left winger before the window shuts. He believes that Wilfried Gnonto in particular “would appeal” to the East London outfit, but confessed there has been no progress made towards a deal.

“West Ham is an interesting one and they are being offered new opportunities for their attack as deals for Osman and Jota hit the skids,” he confirmed to GIVEMESPORT. “It’s been a pretty frustrating week because they thought at one stage that both players would end up signing. But now they are having to consider the possibility of not signing anyone to bolster their front line.”

“I’m told they don’t want to panic and don’t want to take on a player they didn’t already have on the radar. A situation like Gnonto is one that would appeal but at the moment it hasn’t progressed. But I always stay open-minded when it comes to West Ham in the last hours of a window.”

While panic buying is something West Ham should avoid at all costs, you can not help but think it would be ludicrous to offload two left wingers without bringing someone in. Benrahma and Fornals may not have been up to par as of late, but squad depth was already a massive issue for the Hammers, why make it even worse?

As Jones suggested though, anything can happen before we reach the deadline and, knowing West Ham, it would not surprise anyone if there was one more massive twist before the window slams shut.
