Jack Clarke says that he is committed to Sunderland and that he was unbothered by transfer rumours.

Despite only bringing in Kalvin Phillips, West Ham were linked with a move for a ridiculous amount of players. There were a few that came up time and time again though, with Jack Clarke being one of those individuals.

The Sunderland winger has scored 13 goals and assisted a further 4 this season and has been key in the black cats push for a playoff place. Unsurprisingly, Clarke’s impressive form attracted the attention of multiple Premier League clubs including West Ham.

Obviously, nothing ended up coming from this interest but he could potentially be someone that the Hammers look to sign in the Summer. Either way, the former Tottenham player claims that the rumours did not turn his head in the slightest and that he is happy in the North East.

“Honestly, I’m happy to be here, and I’m still enjoying every minute in a Sunderland shirt and for me,” he explained. “The stuff that gets said on the outside doesn’t seem to bother me. As long as I’m coming in every day and wearing a Sunderland shirt I’m happy.”

While it is highly unlikely that he would come out and say that he is not happy at the Stadium of Light, you can not help but admire how highly he speaks of his club. He could have easily tried to push through a move to the Premier League but he didn’t. His love for the Black Cats is clearly genuine and staying in the Championship a little while longer could be a good thing for his development.

From a West Ham perspective, they will be disappointed to lose out on such a big talent but it is a decision that is completely respectable.
