West Ham will accept a bid for Lucas Paqueta if Manchester City offer the right amount of money.
Anyone who says there are no more entertainers in the Premier League clearly hasn’t watched Lucas Paqueta play. The Brazilian has absolutely everything you’d want from a midfielder; flair, brilliant passing, fantastic finishing, relentless work rates and a determination to win the ball. He has taken East London by storm with some fans even claiming he is better than Dimitri Payet.
Unfortunately, such a player does not perform at the level he has been for long without some of the ‘bigger clubs’ sniffing around him. Not only have the Hammers got one such club interested in him, but the best team in the world are wanting to secure his signature.
Manchester City have been wanting to sign Paqueta since the Summer but he was accused of being involved in a serious betting scandal and this stopped Pep from putting in a bid. The investigation is still ongoing but it is believed that a verdict is close to being reached.
Football Insider reports that the Irons would be willing to accept an offer for him, as long as they reach their demands. There is reportedly a release clause in his contract of around £85 million and you would expect that they would not sell him for any less.
Since his injury at the start of the year, West Ham have failed to win a game and have only scored 1 goal from open play. The midfielder is clearly pivotal to David Moyes’ side and losing him permanently would be disastrous. However, if City activates the release clause and the player wants to go, then there is simply nothing they can do.
