West Ham could make a £55 million signing for an Arsenal benchwarmer in the Summer transfer window.

If the first two months of 2024 taught us anything it’s that West Ham’s squad may not be as strong as everyone thought. Their first XI is brilliant but, beyond that, there is just next to no depth. This became particularly apparent when their attacking trio of Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen were all unavailable at the start of the year.

Interestingly though, it seems like the Hammers may be looking at a versatile player to join them in the team rather than just bringing in a backup option. According to Rudy Galetti, West Ham could look to sign Emile Smith-Rowe in the Summer.

Our own ExWHUEmployee exclusively revealed our interest in the Arsenal midfielder a few months ago and confirmed that we tried to sign him on loan in January. Unfortunately, both the player and Mikel Arteta were not interested in the move but considering he has hardly been used since then, Galetti believes that he may be available at the end of the season.

It is thought that the Gunners would listen to offers around the £55 million mark which is an incredible amount for someone with his injury record. However, it is important to remember that he is only 23 years old and what the Irons would receive would be far from the finished product. If he can stay fit and start progressing then £55 million could turn out to be a steal for someone with his potential.
