West Ham are set to battle both Manchester United and Aston Villa for the signature of a promising Italian defender.

At this point it is common knowledge that West Ham have a severe issue when it comes to depth. In almost all positions, their back up options are just not good enough. You would expect this to be addressed in the Summer, with one of the priority positions being a fullback.

With Cresswell and Johnson both likely to leave at the end of the season, it should come as no surprise that the club are looking at potential replacements with one option being Raoul Bellanova, according to TMW.

The 23-year-old right back has been one of the standout players for Torino this season, scoring 1 goal and getting 5 assists in 27 Serie A games. He is at his best when attacking, averaging 1.1 key passes per game from the defence and completing an impressive 84.7% of his passes. Torino signed him last Summer for just €7 million, but his value has already tripled.

Unfortunately, securing his signature will not be simple as both Manchester United and Aston Villa are said to be weighing up a move. The lure of Champions League football at Villa park or the prestige of playing for the Red Devils may be too much for the Irons to compete with.

If the club do pull it off, then he could be the perfect complement to Emerson and offer very similar qualities. With the form Coufal has been in though, he will have to work extremely hard to break into the first XI.
