Ben Johnson could be set to do the unthinkable and move to bitter rivals on a free transfer.

In football, there are very few unforgivable acts. Disastrous performances, own goals, red cards and poor form can all be moved past. However, moving to one of the club’s most fierce rivals is something that fans are unlikely to get over.

Surprisingly though, it has emerged that Ben Johnson could be set to move to Tottenham Hotspur when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to Football Transfers.

After falling down the pecking order last season, the right-back has proved himself to be a reliable and versatile option for David Moyes this season. One own ExWHUEmployee has revealed that the Hammers are eager to keep hold of the academy graduate.

Unfortunately, it is believed that his wage demands are much beyond what the board is willing to offer, especially considering that they are now trying to keep tighter control of the wage bill due to FFP.

Despite being a boyhood West Ham fan, Johnson is said to be open to joining Tottenham. Ahead of Spurs are Crystal Palace who have laid out an enticing offer to the 24-year-old.

While it is hard to know for definite, if he did move to North London, it is likely he would not get a particularly good reception when he returns to the London Stadium, particularly when his only reason for not signing a new contract is due to money.
