West Ham have lined up a shock move for a top class Premier League striker in the Summer transfer window.

Despite Michail Antonio’s recent resurgence in form, there is no doubt that West Ham need a quality striker. The Jamaican international’s contract expires at the end of the season but there is an option to extend the deal for a further year.

Either way, it is common knowledge that he is not able to play a full 90 minutes, let alone week in week out. After their failures to replace him in recent years, the club are determined to get it right this time around.

Surprisingly, this had led them to compete with their London rivals Tottenham and Chelsea for the signature of Ivan Toney, according to The Sun.

Controversially, the Englishman has made it repeatedly clear that he wishes to leave Brentford in the Summer. While he has played very little this term due to being found guilty of breaking betting regulations, his goal scoring record in the Premier League speaks for itself.

Given that he is the Bees star player, they are expected to demand a heavy fee despite his contract expiring in the Summer of 2025.

Our Irons need to make some statement signings when the window opens if they are to push on to that next level. Signing someone on the level of Toney would certainly send a big message that we are ready to do just that.
