West Ham are reportedly going to “sweeten the deal” with add-ons to sign Brazilian wonder-kid.

Every game it becomes increasingly obvious how desperate West Ham are for a rebuild. No depth, players that are not good enough and ones who just don’t seem to care are littered through the squad.

Obviously it is hard to properly scout players when no one knows who West Ham’s manager will be past the end of the season, but that hasn’t stopped Tim Steidten from trying as he expected to be the one in charge of transfers.

One player he’s clearly shown a lot of interest in is Wesley Gassova. The 19-year-old has caught the attention of the Hammers technical director for his pace, quick feet and sensational skill. While he is still lacking in terms of goals and assists, that is something that can be drilled into him.

It was recently reported that West Ham had a £13 million bid rejected for him and that it would take close to £20 million to secure his signature from Corinthians. However, according to the Sunday Mirror, the East London outfit are hoping that it will only take some additional clauses to “sweeten the deal.”

The reception in Brazil to his potential departure had been mixed. Some have urged Corinthians to get as much money as possible for one of their most exciting prospects, others do not rate him so highly and believe they should have just accepted the initial bid.

Whatever the case may be, for such a small amount of money it is almost certainly worth the Hammers taking the risk. He has promising attributes and they could have a bargain on their hands. If he doesn’t develop how they’d hope, they’ve not lost a massive amount of money.
