West Ham have reportedly begun talks with a European club about signing a highly rated striker.

While West Ham either need to sign starters or rotation players in almost every position, the one role they’ve been struggling to fill for years is the striker. No matter how good a forward has been before or after their time in East London, none have been able to find good enough form while in claret and blue.

Obviously, Michail Antonio has been brilliant as of late, but his age and fitness levels means that the Hammers are in desperate need of a replacement.

Thankfully, according to Football Insider, the club have already made initial enquiries about signing Fotis Ioannidis this Summer.

The Panathinaikos striker has been a target for some time now, with ExWHUEmployee exclusively revealing this on a number of occasions. He has been in brilliant form this season, scoring 21 goals across all competitions and assisting a further 8. The news site reports that a bid in the region of £17 million would be enough to secure the 24-year-old’s signature.

With scouts apparently being “blown away” by the Greek international, it is hard to imagine that a fee that low would be much of a hurdle. If he can replicate his impressive form in the Premier League, West Ham may finally have their replacement for Antonio.
