West Ham are reportedly one step away from agreeing a deal with a sought after manager.

While nothing is official and the club haven’t made a decision just yet, it is hard to imagine David Moyes still being West Ham’s manager next season. It seems like outsiders are finally starting to see why so many of the East London faithful are eager to replace him, especially after their thrashing at Crystal Palace.

A number of names have been thrown about over the last 24 hours as to who will succeed the Scotsman. However, one report states that the Hammers have not only chosen a replacement, but they’ve also got a contract ready for him to sign.

TuttoMercatoWeb reports that Julen Lopetegui has been offered a three-year contract at the London Stadium, beating AC Milan to his signature.

The Spaniard has managed his country’s national team, Real Madrid, Sevilla and, most recently, Wolverhampton Wanderers. These rumours have caused mixed reactions among fans with the overall consensus being negative.

Thankfully, our own ExWHUEmployee has confirmed that there is still no decision made on the managerial situation or any potential replacements (as he has done a number of times).

Ultimately, fans shouldn’t be put off by his short spell in the Premier League. He did a decent job with Wolves in the short time he was there and left of his own accord due to a lack of financial backing from the owners. Although, whether or not he would be able to succeed one of the club’s most successful managers ever is a different matter. As of right now, Lopetegui won’t be joining West Ham, but that could change as we edge towards the end of the season.
