A West Ham player has put himself forward to replace Kurt Zouma as captain.

Losing your captain is always extremely difficult to cope with. Luckily, when Mark Noble retired, West Ham had a natural successor in Declan Rice but, when he left the club a year later, it left manager David Moyes with a dilemma.

After experimenting in preseason, he landed on Kurt Zouma as the man to wear the armband. While he wasn’t the obvious choice, he is said to be a popular figure in the changing room and has the benefit of speaking fluent French and English.

Unfortunately, from what can be seen on the pitch, he lacks the leadership qualities required to lead his team. Many fans believe that they need a change  of captains for next season, and one player has made it clear that he is willing to step up to the plate – Jarrod Bowen.

“I would like to captain West Ham,” Bowen stated.”Maybe it comes in time. I’m always a confidence player so as time has gone on here, I feel as if I have had more of an influence as I know what it takes to represent this club.”

The winger comes across as quite a quiet person, but you can see on the pitch just how vocal he is. Like he said, he gets what it means to play for West Ham and he would be many fan’s pick to take over from Zouma.
