One of West Ham’s top Summer targets could be about to earn a big payday in Saudi Arabia.

Once upon a time, the clubs who spent the big money were the biggest clubs in the world. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case. First it was China, then it was America, and now it’s Saudi Arabia who are able to snap up almost anyone they like with their endless pot of money.

Since the Saudis have started increasing their focus on their league, many clubs have lost out on transfer targets due to not being able to compete financially. Unfortunately for West Ham, they could be the latest to fall victim to this.

The Hammers have been repeatedly linked with a move for Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri but have failed to secure his signature. However, with the arrival of Julen Lopetegui it looked like this could have finally been the window they got their man.

According to journalist Matte Moretto, the striker is more worried about money than anything else as he would much prefer a move to the Saudi Pro League over the Premier League.

Obviously this isn’t the news West Ham fans will want to hear but it really shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Moroccan has turned down a move to East London previously as, unlike most, the top flight of English football isn’t particularly enticing to him.

Maybe he doesn’t back himself to perform in the best league in the world, or maybe he just doesn’t like the idea of living in England. Either way, it will be disappointing for the Hammers but there are plenty of other targets out there – some may even be more exciting than En-Nesyri.
