West Ham have confirmed that Manuel Lanzini will depart the club this summer, with our Podcast hosts giving emotional farewells to our Jewel.

The Argentinian arrived in East London in 2015 initially on a season long loan, but quite rightly that was made permanent when the midfielder penned a long term deal to remain at West Ham – and has done now for 8 years.

We have witnessed some incredible moments that have been delivered by the playmaker, with Lanzini’s flair, vision and finishing making him one of the most popular players in our recent history.

A devastating injury ahead of the 2018 World Cup saw his career sadly take a nasty turn, with the player rupturing his ACL which sidelined him for many months and left him with a lot to do to recover to his best level.

Since though Lanzini has provided some memorable moments and he’ll sadly say goodbye to his life in East London with West Ham fans and all connected with the club wishing him well. Our very own Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee have given their thoughts on our Jewels departure

“Whilst it’s the right decision, I’m genuinely gutted to see Manu go,” stated Walker. “He has been a fantastic servant to West Ham and has given us some brilliant memories over the years.

“I’m so pleased he signed off with a trophy. I wish him well for the future.”

“Manuel will always be remembered as a hero for his achievements in claret and blue,” added Ex. “I will never forget how good he was in our last season at Upton Park.

“Although Payet took the headlines Lanzini’s contribution was not far off! Who could also forget some of the wonder goals he scored for the club including the last minute rocket against Spurs in injury time to make it 3-3! Iconic!!

“What a player and I wish him all the best.”
