West Ham’s Ben Johnson has been named in Lee Carsley’s U21 squad to represent England in the Euros this summer.

Our Hammers defender has so far made four appearances for his national team, with his debut against Albania in March 2022.

Johnson hopes he can win a second trophy following the win in Prague last week, as the campaign kicks of on the 22nd of June against Czech Republic for the first game of the group stages.

The team are also set to take on Germany and Israel, with the top two teams progressing to the quarter-finals later this summer.

Ben Johnson is hoping this opportunity can be used to prove himself after a rocky season with West Ham this year.  The 23-year-old joined West Ham aged 8 where started off at the academy.  He later went on to sign his first professional contract in January 2018 aged 18.

Johnson started his career strongly, scoring 2 goals at his time at West Ham, however it had seemed that he had slipped down in the pecking order this season with only 29 appearances over all competitions.

Despite some solid displays for the East London player, Johnsons future still looks uncertain at West Ham, although the club would ultimately like to see him succeed due to him being an academy graduate.
