West Ham are eager to bring Scott McTominay to East London this summer, with ExWHUEmployee providing an update on the pursuit.

As reported previously by Ex, the Scotland international is highly rated by David Moyes and the boss has made it clear he wants to secure the services of his fellow Scotsman.

At present, the valuation of the player is proving to be a key stumbling block, however our club insider and Podcast co-host Ex has stated that there is hope that the expectations of the Red Devils could be lowered.

“The valuation of Scott McTominay seems to be significantly different between the clubs,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon. “We have been told that whilst West Ham would not be prepared to offer near the current fee it is hoped that Manchester United may lower their expectations if they are able to complete couple of purchases themselves.”

It appears that news has circulated on social media stating that Ex has reported that McTominay would be signed as our sole ‘defensive midfielder’, which The West Ham Way can clarify isn’t the case.

“The use of the word ‘defensive midfielder’ was no indication of where David Moyes would play McTominay, should we sign him,” stated Ex. “The term was just my way of categorising the midfielders we are interested in this summer.”

At this stage of the possible transfer, the valuations are apart, although the club do hold hope that Manchester United will soften their current stance.
