West Ham could jump on the opportunity to sign a Barcelona wonder-kid this Summer.

Very few attackers have the same set of strengths that Michail Antonio does; it’s why they’ve struggled so much to replace him. His mixture of power and pace makes him nearly impossible for defenders to defend against but, unfortunately, he’s always been lacking in the fitness department and that’s only gotten worse as he’s gotten older.

What West Ham really need is a young player with all the strengths of Antonio who could go on to be even better than the Jamaican international. Thankfully, they may have just had their perfect successor offered to them through Brazilian wonder-kid Vitor Roque.

The 19-year-old impressed in Brazil so much that he got a £52 million move to Barcelona last Summer. Unfortunately, his time in Spain hasn’t been as successful as he would’ve hoped. Since joining he’s only made 13 appearances, 11 of which were off the bench. He has still managed to score 2 goals in such a small amount of playtime but this hasn’t been enough to impress manager Xavi who has, according to Roque’s agent, has refused to talk to him.

Graeme Bailey reports that West Ham are one of many clubs who have been offered the opportunity to sign the youngster. While it is believed Barcelona would prefer a loan, his agent is set to push for a permanent move away.

Obviously it is hard to imagine that Barcelona, a team who’s financial issues are well known, would be willing to sell him for much of a loss, if any at all. Given that they bought him for a massive price, anything around that may be outside of West Ham’s budget considering they’ve got to bring in a ton of players.
