Jesse Lingard is impressing as he continues to makes steps towards a West Ham return, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

The former Manchester United midfielder, who had a hugely successful loan stint in east London back in 2021, is currently training at Rush Green with the mindset of earning a contract at the club.

West Ham first team coach and former captain Kevin Nolan has already spoken of the players desire to return, stating that a deal will happen if it works for all parties.

“He had a fantastic six months with us, didn’t he?” Nolan told BBC Radio 5 Live. “He re-energised himself, he re-energised the club and he did what he needed to do.

“I think because of that, the gaffer has said to him ‘come in and train with us’. He’s not quite up to match fitness, at the minute. I think we will continue to assess as we go along.

“But Jesse, the first day you see him, and he says it, ‘I feel like it’s my second home and I feel like I need to be here to go again’.

“If it works for both I think, it will happen. But that will be up to the boss. All we have to do is sort of see how he does over the next couple of weeks.”

ExWHUEmployee, who was reporting on The West Ham Way Podcast, has subsequently stated that the chances of a Lingard return to West Ham is now looking more likely.

“Lingard is looking very good fitness wise,” stated our club insider. “At this stage any offer would be short term, around 6-12 months with a lower wage but incentive based.

“At he start it was described to me as a ‘tiny chance’ – now there is a ‘chance’, it seems its getting more likely”
