West Ham could make a move for a Real Madrid midfielder valued at £52 million, according to reports.

Over the next two windows, West Ham are expected to have a lot of players leaving the club. With many players being out of contract, and the Hammers wanting to get rid of fringe players to improve their squad as a whole, they are going to have to spend big in 2024.

However, as of right now, they are on an extremely limited budget due to FFP regulations. Therefore, any money for transfers will have to be raised through player sales.

Thanks to Benrahma and Cornet falling down the pecking order, they are both potential assets that the Irons could cash in on. If they are to do this though, they will need to bring in an attacking option to replace them. According to Real Madrid Exclusivo, that attacker could be Brahim Diaz.

The versatile Spaniard can play on both wings, but is at his best in the No.10 role. He enjoyed an excellent loan spell at AC Milan from 2020, right up to the end of last Season, and Real Madrid thought he was going to be a great option for them but, unfortunately, he has not been able to find consistent minutes in the Spanish capital.

Unsurprisingly, Madrid want to cash in on the 24 year old and are demanding a fee of £52 million. Obviously, there is not much chance of West Ham being able to afford this in January, so he may be someone they look to sign at the end of the season.

Much to the dismay of West Ham though, there is one way they may be able to afford him this month. Diaz’s former club Manchester City are still weighing up a move for Lucas Paqueta. If they do come in and offer a suitable amount, the club may have no choice but to sell him and Diaz could be the Brazilian’s replacement.

Fortunately, it does not seem extremely likely that this will happen just yet due to Paqueta’s ongoing betting scandal. While we would all be disappointed with losing him, someone like Brahim Diaz would be the perfect replacement as he possesses a lot of the same qualities that makes Lucas so crucial to us.

It is a big price tag for someone that failed to impress previously in the Premier League, but much has changed since then. He has gained plenty of experience playing at the top level of Italian and European football which has really allowed him to grow as an individual.

Assuming that he can emulate the form he found in Italy, there is no doubt that Diaz would be a statement signing for our Irons but, for the amount of money Real are demanding, the club have to be 100% certain he can make the step up.
