West Ham could be about to sign a Ligue 1 double this January as their injury crisis demands urgent signings.

Unfortunately, the news broke today that West Ham could be without Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen for a considerable amount of time. With Antonio already out injured for a month or more, as well as Mohammed Kudus being at AFCON, it is understandable why some fans are starting to panic.

Luckily for them, Football Insider believes “David Moyes and his recruitment team are working overtime” to bring in a forward as soon as possible. In fact, they believe that the East London outfit could sign two young, proven strikers this window, both of which our own ExWHUEmployee exclusively revealed our interest in.

Firstly, there is Hugo Ekitike of PSG. The 21 year old was actually on the Hammers’ radar back in the Summer but he favoured moving to the French capital permanently following his loan there. However, his efforts to break into the starting XI were futile causing both the club and the player to want to go their separate ways. A loan option is a real possibility and, with such a tight budget, this could really suit Moyes.

The second Ligue 1 striker they could sign is Montpellier’s Akor Adams who has already scored 7 goals already this season, which is extremely impressive when you consider it is his first season in France. Unlike a lot of their targets, West Ham will not have to wait for AFCON to end in order to play him as he was snubbed of a place in the Nigeria squad.

Either one of the two would be brilliant additions to the squad, but signing both would be phenomenal business. They are young, hungry forwards who are very different individually but both have abilities which could see them thrive in the Hammers’ system.
