West Ham have come under fire from Lyon for our handling of the Said Benrahma deal, which collapsed at the 11th hour.

In a shocking turn of events, which earlier in the day saw the Algerian international with Lyon as the move was set for completion, it appears West Ham failed to register the paperwork on time thus meaning the player could not complete the loan move to France.

“The reason given is that West Ham failed to submit the paper work in time,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon.

“If there is no way to resurrect the deal then I hope Benrahma knuckles down and tries to prove everyone wrong for selling him. The player has one game left of his suspension following his red card at Bristol City.”

Understandably, Lyon are angry with the way events have unfolded, which has seen them miss out on signing the player for the remainder of the season.

They have released the following statement:

Olympique Lyonnais were delighted to welcome Saïd Benrahma to Lyon this Thursday to finalise his transfer from West Ham. The two clubs had signed a temporary transfer agreement, and Olympique Lyonnais had obtained the approval of the DNCG to allow the transfer to take place in a fluid and transparent manner.

However, in the early evening, when Olympique Lyonnais had entered all the administrative data on FIFA’s dedicated platform (FIFA TMS), West Ham had never launched any technical procedure on its part, despite OL’s repeated reminders and continuous mutual telephone communication.

In the absence of this reciprocal action on the part of the English club and following this incomprehensible behavior, raising questions, the international transfer certificate could not be requested before closing time.

Olympique Lyonnais deeply regrets this situation and this decision, demonstrating a deep lack of respect on the part of West Ham for the Institution and the player.

As has been reported by ExWHUEmployee too, there is still confusion as to the status of the sale of Pablo Fornals to Real Betis.

Surprisingly, Fornals was at the London Stadium on Thursday night in our drab draw with Bournemouth, with doubt whether the deal to the Spanish side had been concluded in time.

Betis have also released a statement on the situation, which has undoubtedly caused much embarrassment in regards to how West Ham have handled these transfers.

Pablo Fornals deal has been affected by West Ham issues with the transfer documents.

West Ham had some problems with all the deals they did. We are optimistic as we hope to complete Fornals deal in the next days.
