West Ham could be set to land a welcome lift ahead of our Premier League encounter with Aston Villa later today.

Our Hammers host the midlands club at the London Stadium off the back of a morale boosting 5-0 win in midweek over SC Freiburg, as we look to continue our push for a European spot again for next season.

The visitors are in the midst of a European push themselves, with Villa aiming to nab a Champions League place following a very positive season so far.

They do though have injury and suspension issues for today’s game, which could well play into our Hammers hands.

Ollie Watkins will be assessed ahead of kickoff following picking up a cut to his leg in their midweek win over Ajax.

Diego Carlos also picked up and injury in that match and is out, while John McGinn is suspended.

Max Cornet is out through injury, while Emerson will be assessed before the game to see if he’s ok to step back in at left back.

Lucas Paqueta is expected to be passed fit too to feature today against Unai Emerys side.

Today’s match kicks off at 2pm and is not being shown on TV. It is however available to listen to on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra.
