Two Premier League rivals are set to battle for the signature of West Ham’s Ben Johnson.

Despite putting in some impressive performances this season, Ben Johnson’s minutes have been extremely limited. Even when Vladimir Coufal has been subpar, David Moyes has rarely opted to use the 24-year-old.

Due to a mixture of his lack of playtime and disagreements over wages, it now looks unlikely that Johnson will extend his stay in East London (although the Hammers are expected to try to convince him again).

With his Premier League experience, versatility and quality it is no wonder that multiple clubs are showing interest in signing him. Our own ExWHUEmployee exclusively revealed that Crystal Palace have shown strong intent of securing his signature but, according to GIVEMESPORT, it could be two Midlands clubs that go head to head.

Both Aston Villa and Wolves have enjoyed great seasons respectively, with Unai Emery’s side being all but guaranteed European football next term with a real chance of that being in the Champions League. While that may be extremely enticing to Johnson, he realistically has a better chance of playing consistently at Wolves and they are a team that could start pushing for Europe more consistently.

Either way, the board should be doing everything in their power to keep Johnson at the London Stadium. It would be a waste to lose such a talented player just to have to spend even more money to replace him.
