West Ham have opened preliminary talks regarding Bristol City player Alex Scott, ExWHUEmployee has reported.

The highly rated midfielder has been on our Hammers radar for some time, with Ex reporting back in April that the club would be looking at the Championship market this summer, with Scott being high on the list.

Scott has impressed greatly in the 2nd tier for the Robins, with the highly sought-after 19 year old voted the EFL Championship Young Player of the Season, meaning West Ham will no doubt face competition for his services.

Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson earlier this week dismissed talk of Scott departing the club, although admitted that it would be out of his hands should a significant bid be received.

“We’re not in a hurry to sell anybody, that’s the bottom line,” stated Pearson, as reported by the BBC. “There is always going to be speculation about somebody with his amount of talent.

“We know that a number of Premier League clubs have been monitoring him, but so what? Nobody has yet put a bid in. If they do, I’m a football manager, that’s up to the powers that be here to make that decision as to whether it’s an acceptable deal or not.”

ExWHUEmployee has now reported further on the situation and has stated that preliminary talks have commenced with West Ham keen to explore if an agreement can be reached.

“A midfielder that we have held talks with is highly rated Bristol City youngster Alex Scott,” reported Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon. “The midfielder has a host of clubs after him but preliminary talks have begun.”
