West Ham are continuing to explore avenues in bringing Denis Zakaria to East London although there are concerns, reports ExWHUEmployee.

With the impending and frustratingly slow departure of Declan Rice to Arsenal still not yet concluded, our Hammers are understandably looking at bringing in a new defensive midfielder this summer.

Zakaria, a Swiss international who was on loan to Chelsea last season from Juventus, has been identified as a target for the club, with talks having been underway for a couple of weeks.

It is understood, following the report from Ex on The West Ham Way Podcast, is that West Ham have concerns over the players injury record and therefore would prefer a loan move.

Juventus on the other hand are not keen on this, and would rather sell so they comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. Ex has reported exclusively that the clubs are in dialogue to find a resolution that works for all parties.

“Zakaria talks are ongoing, with West Ham concerned over the injury history of the player,” stated Ex on the Podcast on Patreon. “He’s has a significant number of injuries, and the fact he’s only 26 is a worry.

“The idea at this stage is to reach a loan arrangement. which Juventus aren’t keen on because of FFP. However a deal could maybe be struck if the loan arrangement includes an obligation to buy, pending on appearances made by the player whist on loan.

“Talks are ongoing with West Ham still keen, but bringing the player in would have to fit in with our terms.”

Ex will be keeping fans fully up to date on the progress of this possible deal and all other club matters on Patreon.
